Community Development Program in Kenya

Program Category:

Cultural Exchange

Working in community development is perhaps one of the most in-demand, challenging, and diverse volunteer/internship opportunities available on a global scale today. What could be more rewarding than immersing oneself in a new culture and empowering communities by helping them achieve the awareness necessary to have greater control over their environment? Community development breaks down into many different categories, but is generally defined as social groups of people working together towards a common goal to build a stronger community.
Many community members are left to migrate to urban areas for survival, leaving their communities with less few economic opportunities and are forced to human resources and infusing their culture with other traditions and ideas, which alters the original culture. Different communities are farmers and cattle raring and keep looking for food for their livestock and water. Men and their boys move to different places to look for food for their livestock since some areas are very dry. Women and girls are left at home mostly to guard the homes and take care of babies.
You can immerse yourself into different cultures by involving yourself on daily life activities and collaborate with people by sharing ideas and promoting projects. Local traditions are unique and locals are more than happy to show visitors everything about their customs. In addition, you can share your own culture in return. You can get involved to community development activities including;
- Water conservation and sanitation.
- Working on Girl child project,
- Agriculture and faming.
- Building new projects like schools and renovations.
