Special Needs and Inclusion
Volunteer Abroad GT offers special needs and inclusion programs in Guatemala, Nepal, Costa Rica and South Africa. Learning to live with disability is difficult for anyone. There are barriers that hinder the growth and vitally of everyday life. In many developing nations all the efforts to promote and advance disability inclusion have been limited to urban areas, forgetting that the majority of the population resides in rural areas, making it harder to succeed and have an opportunity in life.
As a volunteer on a special needs and inclusion program, you will work alongside local staff who are supporting a range of children and adults. You will help to run a classroom, mealtimes and participate in fun activities such as music and art sessions. By joining this program in any of its projects, you’ll become an important agent of change; you’ll empower people through different activities by providing them with the tools, knowledge, and skills that will prepare them for a brighter future. Through these programs we look forward to increasing awareness of disability inclusion and give these people a better chance of succeeding in the long-term. Volunteering abroad with people with disabilities is a very rewarding experience and will give you invaluable practical experience.
